DESCO Benefits
Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA:
- Medical plan: HMO Blue NE $2,000 deductible with Choice Cost Sharing (HCCS) and the PPO $3,000 deductible with HCCS medical insurance plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield. DESCO currently covers 70% of the health plan costs, while employees pay the remaining 30% via weekly paycheck deductions. Along with this plan, DESCO offers a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) for eligible employees and dependents to offset the higher deductibles.
- Dental plan: Dental Blue Pedi & Adult insurance plan. DESCO covers 70% of the health plan costs, while employees pay the remaining 30% via weekly paycheck deductions.
- Vision plan: DESCO covers 100% of the employee plan cost. Employees ONLY pay for their dependents, if any.
Flexible Spending Accounts:
- DESCO offers Health and Dependent Care FSAs from Comprehensive Benefit Services. Flexible Spending Accounts can be used to put money aside per-tax to cover health or dependent care expenses.
Group Life Insurance:
- DESCO offers a $10,000 Group Life Insurance plan from Principal, which is 100% covered by DESCO.
Voluntary Life Insurance:
- Employee: Up to $300,000 in increments of $10,000
- Spouse: Up to $100,000 in increments of $5,000
- Child(ren): $10,000 (children under 14 days old receive $1,000 benefit)
Short Term Disability Insurance:
- Paid 100% by DESCO, this insurance covers the 60% up to $2000/week of your income if you’re temporarily disabled and can’t work for a short time (up to 13 weeks).
Voluntary Long term disability insurance:
- Paid 100% by the employee, this insurance covers the 60% up to $10,000/month of your income if you’re temporarily disabled and can’t work for a short time. Your Elimination Period must be fulfilled before you start receiving Benefits. You will have completed your elimination period after 90 days.
Employee Assistance Program:
DESCO offers Employee Assistance Services, via Magellan Healthcare. Includes:
- In Person or Virtual Counseling: Meet with a licensed, EAP professional in person, via text message, or by live chat, video or phone sessions.
- Legal Financial and Identity Theft Services: Access legal Services, financial wellness, and identity theft resources.
- Lifestyle Coaching: Get help meet goals with the support of a coach, available by phone or video.
- Work-Life Web Services: Access webinars, live talks, and articles on topics such as child and elder care, education, parenting, and more.
Costco Membership:
- 100% Costco annual membership paid by DESCO.
Supplemental Benefits:
- DESCO offers a variety of supplemental voluntary benefits through AFLAC. Employees may choose to elect a benefit for themselves, as well as for their spouse and dependent coverage, and these supplemental benefits are 100% employee-paid.
7 Holiday Paid:
- New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving and Christmas day.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for paid time off (PTO). Regular part-time employees receive paid PTO in proportion to the number of hours they normally are scheduled to work. You may use your PTO time as you wish/need.
